American Mensa ("AML") Password

  • If the password that you have is a real word, and not a bunch of gibberish, then that's your San Diego Mensa ("SDM") Password. You're at the wrong place; click here to get to the right place.

  • If the password that you have is a bunch of gibberish, and not a real word, than that's your American Mensa ("AML") Password.  You came to the right place. Click here ("AML Access") to get your copy of the MENSAN. Type in your American Mensa membership number when it asks for your "User name", and your AML password when it asks for "Password".

What?

American Mensa membership number: Pull out your most recent Mensa Bulletin from American Mensa and look at the mailing label. It's the number right above your name.

American Mensa ("AML") password: See  https://secure.us.mensa.org/members/resetmypassword.php.

Enter your membership number and your email address (as you suspect is on record with American Mensa. You will receive an email with further instructions on how to change your AML password. Use your new AML password to get your copy of the MENSAN.

If that doesn't work (i.e., AML has the wrong email address for you, or none at all), then see https://secure.us.mensa.org/members/mymembership.php, and we quote:

As a renewing member, you received your initial password with your membership card upon renewal. Multi-year and lifetime members received their passwords with a Personal Data Questionnaire or member survey mailing. If you did not receive or have lost your initial password or have forgotten your password after changing it online, please contact Web Services.

Web Services, at the American Mensa Office, will send you back an auto-respond e-mail explaining what to do. If you're in a rush, then call the phone number included in that auto-respond e-mail. If you're not in a rush, then wait for two or three days; your American Mensa membership number and password should magically appear in your snail-mail mailbox.

If worse comes to worst, then send a snail-mail inquiry about your password to:

American Mensa, Ltd.
1229 Corporate Drive West
Arlington, TX 76006-6103

Include your American Mensa membership number. Speed the response from the American Mensa Office by also including a self-addressed stamped envelope (use the address to which your Mensa Bulletin is sent).

Rumors persist that a call to the American Mensa Office, at 1-817-607-0060, will also work. At 7¢ per minute, a 5-minute phone call is still cheaper than a stamp. Have your most recent Mensa Bulletin from American Mensa (and, in particular, its mailing label) ready to go.

Yes, this is all a bit of a hassle. Imagine, though, what would happen if anyone—without authentication—could approach the American Mensa Office and get them to do things on your behalf. What opportunities for mischief!
